Today was my interview for Zamzows. I must say it went really well. I'm pretty much hired, except that they still have to do a criminal background check and employment verification. I would be availabel to start for them the 19th of March. The only problem with that is that they'll probably start me at part-time instead of full. Seeing as how part-time is less than 30hrs, that doesn't mean much for money. But the lady interviewing me said that she would talk to the manager of the store I would be working for and seeing what he says. I do have a lot of experience running a cash register and handling money, so it's possible they'll still hire me for full-time.
I'm a little wary of giving my two weeks notice at Mervyn's. I feel bad because it seems as if all they're long time employees are leaving them for better jobs. It's mostly because they no longer offer benefits and the pay sucks though. The people are really nice and they do a lot for me, but unfortunately most of the people I like are leaving. *sigh* I'm going to see if they'll let me work when I have the time. (For those days when I only have two days scheduled at Zamzows and I really need the money).
The nice thing about the new place is that they will start me at $8.00 an hour. Experience pays. 3nodding Benefits don't start until after you've been full time for 6 months though. *sigh* But at least the hours are better. Hopefully I can still work enough hours there while in school. Or I might have to leave it for another job where I can. We'll see when we get to that juncture however.
