Five countries - Switzerland, Austria, Germany, East France and one we didn't expect - a small place called Lichtenstein. I wrote some journal entries on the way (I was bored out of my mind) so here it is! Note, that if I know you and you would like some photos, just ask and I will be more than happy to give you some snaps I took.
First day (Sunday, 11th March 2007) 3:05 am - England On our way down the road. The view is awesome and the moon is lovely. We went for a 45 minute break earlier and my sister and I shared a large cup of Mocca Flakes (coffee). At first, it tasted quite horrible, but in the end, it was alright. We drank it with straws x_x Two teens, a large cup of coffee, drinking together with... straws..? How unique. Anyway, we're on our way now - there's a man sitting three seats beside me in his 50's, I daresay. Very pleasant - he won't stop looking at me and giving me sweet smiles ^_^
12:00 pm - France Arrived in France after a 1 1/2 hour journey on ferry from Dover (now in Calais). Feeling rather hyper and tired at the same time. I think there's another 6hr journey on this coach. Currently trying to find something to entertain myself with @_@
Second Day (Monday, 12th March 2007) 8:27 am - France Just went out from the hotel, on our way to Austria. My MP3 went on "Key-lock" ( gonk ) so once again.. I'm bored. Carlisle (where our hotel is) is very lovely. We're going on the direction following the river into the mountains. I had a choice of seats with the coach though - an uncomfortable seat but with AWESOME views.. or a comfortable seat with horrible views. I chose the first. It's getting warm as well - weather is beautiful and last night, we had a good sleep. Watched Star Wars III in French xD
1:04 pm - Switzerland Aye, aye, we're here in Switzerland. Not much awesome views just yet, but there are a lot of tunnels. Having said that, my mood is great, for once. I've had odd things to eat and something (colourings/flavourings) might have sparked my humour. Almost near the service, I believe. 1 hr stop - will write again later.
3:30 pm - Switzerland I can see the Alps on my left hand side. The view is just breathtaking from here, but well.. I'm tired. Just had an uncomfortable nap (because of my position) and I have a small crick in the neck xD Well now, we just turned around, crossing the Rhine - Alps still beside me (now on the right) and we're crossing the border to Austria. Oh, there it is: "Welcome to Austria". How charming.
8:43 pm - Austria (Hotel) Reached the hotel at 4:30-ish and by the time it reached 5-ish, I was fast asleep. Got a room here, my sister and I, until Friday (seems like a loooong way off). Going to Lake Constance tomorrow, had my dinner and shower earlier and I'm shattered. I hope my camera works tomorrow - the battery was low earlier x_x Goodnight.
Third Day (Tuesday, 13th March 2007) 1:10 pm - Germany Just came back from Lake Constance and the small village from the island of.. whatever. Beautiful place, I'd say. The views are awesome. We were walking down the cobbled roads when my mother and her friends started pointing to someone at the window (How rude, I know!!! x_x). They said something about her being a VERY famous actress (name escaped me) and stood in front of the cafe, giggling to themselves. Quite annoyed, I went in with my first sister a few paces behind me and approached the lady. Unsurprisingly, she said that my mother's suspisions were wrong xD I had a conversation with her though, so it was worth the trouble - she's really nice.
Fourth Day (Wednesday, 14th March 2007) 7:30 pm - Austria (Hotel) Sheesh... just realised that I didn't write an entry for last night or throughout today's journey. My apologies. My mind was rather troubled by nightmares of someone, but I won't jot it down here in case if everything turned out false. I cried myself to sleep last night (a little emotional meltdown) and I'm fine now. Anyway - we went to the Alps today.
It was awesome. I took pictures non-stop and the views made my mouth hang open - I was speechless. Words cannot express the beauty of the mountains which I saw from the Glacier Express. It was gorgeous - absolutely breathtaking. The mountains, the sights - even my photos can't show how lovely it was.
Tomorrow, we'll be going back to the Alps, but for a small trip to Klosters.
As for my thoughts.. they are too private to tell for now, and I'm scared someone will read this and worry. But perhaps I'll reveal it eventually.
Fifth Day (Thursday, 15th March 2007) 11:00 pm - Austria (Hotel) Late, I know. Lack of writing as well. But I don't have much to say now. Looking forward for tomorrow though - journey back. I'm tired. Beat. We went to Klosters today back in the mountains. Lovely weather, lovely scenery, but bad mood. Not a good combination, but ah well. Physically, I'm enjoying this - it's one of the best holidays I've had, but emotionally, this might be the worse. I think I just made myself tired.
They say that Klosters are the English Royal Family's favourite skiing place - but to me, it's not a big deal. I met Prince Edward once myself, so I must say.. going to a place where he had been to isn't much of an enjoyable thing. I just want to go back home - more importantly, an access to the internet to confirm something. As long as I have an internet access, even if it's only once and for five minutes, I'll be fine and back to normal (probably even more cheerful) but because I don't have it here, I'm not that okay. Hope to get a good day tomorrow - we're going to Zürich on the way to France.
Sixth Day (Friday, 16th March 2007) 9:19 am - Switzerland On our way to Zürich. Lake Constance is supposed to be stretched beside me on the right, but the fog reveals nothing. A good weather, the fog. I love it. It's been sunny and bright for the past six days and for once, we have fod which doesn't show a thing beyond. I feel a story bubbling up soon and will think about it deeper. I'll try and take a photo of the fog now - got to remember it.
1:04 pm - Zürich, Switzerland Phew... an awesome city, Zürich. We were allowed two hours - my group (or, shall I say, the Malaysians) took two hours and fifteen minutes. We were... lost..? Not me, oh no. No, not me. We were separated. There are twelve of us, as explained above. Me, my sister, four children, two men, four women in total.
Imagine being stuck in a large city - you're fourteen (almost fifteen) and you're trying to get everything together - fast. Foreign place, foreign country, foreign language - everything. The two men and one of the women in our group left to a shopping centre to access the toilets. Two other women headed to the same place but to shop for food, leaving behind you, you sister, the four children and another woman. You have seven minutes to round them up and walk back to the coach, but the woman you're with doesn't know the way back. Not fun, believe me.
I was second eldest with the group of seven and I knew the directions. So.. first, we went to the shopping mall. I told everyone to wait and I went inside, told the two women where we were and where we were going to go and headed back out. I waited for the rest with the others for two minutes and the woman who went to the facilities came and joined us. I gave them the directions and sent them all (two women and the four children) back to the coach: "Go straight until you see the light sculptures, turn left, walk straight back to the Rolex shop, turn right, go straight, and you should be able to find the coach nearby."
I was left alone with my sister in front of the shopping mall. The two who went shopping came back, one of the men came back and we set off - we thought that the other man MUST know the way back because he always does. Men do tend to find it easier to see around and find a way back - at least in my experience. We walked down, met the group I sent earlier (who got lost on the way after all) and went back to the coach - late. Flip it. We waited, but everyone turned up in the end, thank god. I'm beat. Don't want that experience again, but taking charge was amusing.
----------
I am aware of the fact that these entries doesn't really show what was going on, but believe me, I was shattered. After that event in Zürich, we went back to France, spent a night in Carlisle again and on the seventh day (Saturday), went back home and reached the house at approximately 10:00 pm. In one of those days, we visited a small country called Liechtenstein. An awesome country, very small, but the views are just brilliant. As well as that, my problem which haunted my thoughts during the holidays are somewhat solved.. for now, that is. Today, I hope, will confirm it all. Fingers crossed. My apologies for such short entries, but the memory is in my mind, of course. I shall not forget it.
