I was asleep long enough for a pot of tea to be made, but not much more. Henry still wasn't sure what to make of the twins; well that was fair; after all our time together I wasn't always sure what to make of them.
“All right, I understand what elfshot is; but who did it too him?”
I could almost hear the twin's gaze at his point, and chuckled, levering myself out of bed. There were a few spots of ink on my shirt, so I changed it, before going into the other room, as I fastened my shirt. A man is entitled to a bit of informality in his own home, after all. Besides, it was after midnight.
“I think that might be another thing you're not ready to hear, Henry.”
“I'm getting bloody tired of all the secrets Xan.” He growled.
“Fine.”
I sat down. There were two ladder back chairs, and two upholstered chairs in this room, just barely enough at the moment, and more than enough usually.
“let's stat with the last secret; Last spring I discovered that Edward hadn't been murdered, he'd been turned into a vampire; that's why I'd been avoiding you, so I could keep him a secret.” I decided to edit exactly what I had been doing with Edward; disclosure is one thing, but men got imprisoned for the other. “We had a disagreement regarding mortality, and he left town in mid October; I had an attack, and Suki and Saki helped me home; they had no where to stay, so I sort of adopted them; they have a great native talent for magic; and it was nice to have someone to talk to about it.”
“I'm sorry Xan. I've really fallen down on the friend job, haven't I?” Henry looked ashamed.
“It's alright.”
For a moment everything in my apartment was silent. I could hear a dog bark in the distance.
“Henry.” I said suddenly. “What are you doing here? It's the middle of the night!?”
