Well, this is awkward. I've not updated my journal in almost a year! So let me catch you all (whoever reads this) up! Things have been going pretty well in my life lately, except for boring high school. I now understand why 'they' say junior year is academically the most difficult. But anyways, I could go on about school details, but I bet you'd be asleep on your keyboard within 60 seconds.
Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011: Was pretty awesome, I'm not going to lie. I like the fact that AWA is always inside, unlike Momocon that was partially outside in early March. Pretty cold, especially since my costumes consisted of short-sleeved shirts and either a skirt, shorts, or both. Me and a group of my friends came along to the convention this year. I dressed in my Pokemon Trainer May (from Sapphire/Ruby version) costume, and it was my second time wearing it. No new costumes this fall, I just love wearing my May costume too much (even though I was thinking of making a Zelda costume, I didn't have the time, proper resources, and that armor was going to be freakin' hard to make). I just love wearing costumes from the Pokemon games/anime. We walked around for a while, but I didn't happen to see any other people cosplaying the same thing as me, yet again (thankfully). In the afternoon we went to the Invader Zim panel, which I very much enjoyed, and since the Gaia panel was directly afterwards, we didn't even have to leave the room. You know what that means? Oh yes. Dibs on front row seats. So my friends and I sat in the first row, and it was just.....it was just awesome, especially after being behind a ton of people last year. Though there weren't as many awesome prizes or contests as the Gaia panel last year, it was still a lot of fun, and I got a lot of info about stuff upcoming on the site, or stuff that was out that I was just too lazy to check out. Gaia games, mostly. I went up for one of the contests (for best hat), and got a Gaia tote item. I wanted a dark wing pin, so I just splurged and bought one when I got home in the marketplace. I wish we could've attended Gaia Variety Hour the day before, but maybe I'll get to do that next year or the year after. As for the dealers' room, I was a little disappointed. I wanted to get more plushies to add to my Pokemon plushie collection, and I managed to get a good deal on a Celebi plush. Most of the plushies at the convention were 5th gen pokemon, which I'm not really interested in (Sorry, I don't want a jellicent or woobat. Just....gtfo my convention, 5th gen [weird/stupid ones], and bring back selling the jigglypuffs, etc.).
All in all, AWA was very fun again this year. The atmosphere seemed a bit different, but not necessarily better or worse. I can't wait for Momocon 2012 and AWA 2012 next year! I hope Gaia comes again, as usual!
