He hurried over beside me, and kneeled down beside me. “Derika, what is it?” I saw him examine me. I winced, and I tried to show him what hurt, but he didn’t understand. I knew the bell was really close to ringing, so I tried to speak. “M-M-My h-h-head…” Oliver nodded. He picked me up Cinderella style again. I laid my head against his shoulder, and slow drifted off.
When I awoke I was on my bed, my head didn’t hurt as bad as it did. I looked around my room, and I saw someone on the edge of my bed. I sat up quickly, and then my head started to whirl. I lay back down on my bed. The person came over and knelt down to my level. I looked over at the person, and to my surprise, it was Oliver. I smiled slightly and blushed madly. I looked away from him. Then his thoughts filled my mind, I heard him actually sigh. Then he thought, “She probably hates me.” I gasped. No! I didn’t want him the think that. I turned my head back to his face. “No I don’t hate you!”
Oliver then looked at me oddly. “How did you know that?” I gulped, Damn it! I just basically let the cat out of the bag. “Ummm… lucky guess… I mean, it just seemed like you thought that I hated you…” Oliver nodded, and shrugged. Oliver was looking down at his feet, he didn’t know what to talk about neither did I. He looked at me out of the corner of his eye. Then he turned to face me, “Derika… I was just wondering if you’re not doing anything Saturday. Then I was just wondering if you would… Ummm.” I smiled a little; I was usually the one stuttering, I thought to myself. “Yes Oliver?”
Oliver coughed and cleared his throat. His thoughts were rambling through his mind. He was trying to find the right words to say. I heard the same question over and over, “Will you go on a date with me.” It was like a broken record, repeating the same phrase over and over.
