Through the portal I stepped, and felt the cold of the blizzard. I was standing at the Gates to my homeland. The gates of the Gigas, the guardian of Giruvergan. The blizzard chilled me to the bones. I had only heard ancient stories from the eldest in all of Spira who knew of the teachings, mostly the Maesters that had ruled over the millennium, that I watched over the people. They said that Ultima and her lover Zalera took their last stand against the darkness and they became the fayth, which watched over the Advent Children. We as the Children of the Fayth had powers unimaginable to regular humans. I looked at the Gigas Gate and swore, as a statue burst into flames. The guardian of Giruvergan Belias the Gigas, had reawaken to face my challenge. The spirit grasped his burning staff, and approached me casting a wide array of fire magics. I easily out maneuvered the giant beast, and delivered three swift kicks that seemed to faze Belias quite nicely. He whipped around and let out a ferocious cry that told me that I was playing with fire, literally. “I grow tired of this Gigas.” I stated as the my hand began to glow with the power of the arcane. “Scathe” I whispered as the Gigas bellowed with pain, and defeat.
As the Gigas disappeared in a flash of flames and returned to its pedestal. The gate then creaked as somehow something had unlocked and swung open revealing my homeland of Giruvergan. It was different, last time I was here Advent Children were everywhere, the whole water city was abandoned. The main road was usually overrun with people but it too was empty. The water surrounding the area was pure and sparkled in the sunlight that the city Bathed in for most of the year. I walked down the path, the city hadn’t changed in over 1000 years, my only question now was, did Ultima still reside here, and what would she have to say to me. I reached the end of the road and saw another guardian awaiting my challenge. The statue came alive and the goliath swung a mighty battle axe in my direction, however much like the Gigas he was much too slow. I dodged easily and struck out with my fist only to meet solid rock.
Pain shot up through my arm as I swore underneath my breath for being stupid. I dodged yet another onslaught of attacks from the guardian, as I tried to think of a way to defeat him. I decided that magic was most likely my best bet, “Scathe” and a beam of light erupted from my hands as the twin beams met their mark, but the guardian only became more enraged at my attacks. The guardian then began to cast a spell on himself, and then the attacks became much quicker and more powerful. “Dammit.” I swore I knew that a stronger magic would be necessary to destroy the guardian as he had cast the spell Berserk on himself. I focused on my Scathe magic and saw as the glowing orbs began to form on my fingers instead of in my hands and I yelled “Scathe!” The orbs went flying around the guardian and each let out a burst of energy equivalent to one of my magic spells I had previously used.
The guardian howled as he returned to his pedestal. The rosary compass began to glow beneath my feet as I felt a rush of magic flow through my body as I was transported to the inner sanctum on my home. I opened my eyes only to see the gloomy stone walls and floors, which wound their way down into the center of the city near the crystal center.
I took a deep breath and continued my journey to my true home. Everything was normal as the demons that we controlled were patrolling the roads and paths, ignoring the fact that I had entered their domain. I walked and walked as the sound of my footsteps on the stone resounded through the empty city. I was mildly freaked out because the city was completely abandoned. The Crystal innards of the city even seemed to lack the luster and power that it used to have. I knew then that something terrible had happened to my home world. I finally made it to the Inner Sanctum, the only thing that was keeping me from the Crystal Palace of Mother, was the Silent Guardians. Suddenly four men in cloaks appeared almost out of nowhere, completely silent, without a single sound. I saw a blinding light and knew that their master had returned as well. Cuchillian the Silent One appeared.
Rael, you must leave this place immediately. His voice resounded in my head but his mouth never moved not even an inch. “What happened here, oh great one?” I asked. Once you left over 1000 years ago we were attacked by the children of the elements, Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. They stormed the city and slayed many demons, Ultima told all the children to leave the city and they fled. Eventually we stopped the advance of the attackers but not before they had stolen the Seraph Blade, with its absence this holy place lost a lot of its magics, and we cannot locate it. Ultima said that one of the destined guardians of the whole race would return to find the sword and return us to our former glory. “Then what is the problem? Where is the Seraph Blade and I will bring it back? A blade that powerful cannot be too hard to find, it puts off magic energy does it not?”
“Of course it does brother…..” Said a strangely familiar voice as I turned swiftly as a man with platinum hair stepped out of the shadows, as a lady with the same color hair appeared on my other side. My brother and sister then joined my side facing the Silent Guardians.
