I've never seen one up close. But they always have fasanated me...there just so stange to me. They don't swim around all day. They walk around on what they call "feet" and "legs". They can't breath underwater like I can. I guess that's because there not.....part fish...being a mermaid I can breath underwater.
But I beat no human or creature on the surface is a princess either. I was the princess of my kingdom: Alantas. A kingdom ruled by my father King Triton. He's spoken of in some sea legends on the surface...I think. He has a magic triton....it's so powerful it can even turn me into a human! But he would never approve.
I was already in trouble. I knew it! I returned home from exploring sucken ships and talking to a seagull above the surface named Skutall. And father of course was furious. He lectured me....and of course he treats me like a child! Said if he ever heard of me going up above the water again....well..he never said what he would do.
It wasn't the first time we had gotten into a fight. It was rare and lucky if we didn't! I'm 15 and he still treats me like a little girl for ******** sake! It was a pain in the a** to put up with! My brothers Kaname and Zero seem to understand me better then my father. I don't know if I can say the same for my sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella, and Alana. Everyone in the kingdom expecially my older siblings knew I was like my desised mother. She died when I was one. She was pregant with my baby brother at the time. Of all the siblings in my family...I was the youngest. DAMN!
I was so upset I retreaed to my secreat treasure trove. Only me and my friend Flounder knew about it. I placed my findings around the room. "Melissa, are you all right?" Flounder asked. He knew when I was upset. "Maybe my father's right. Maybe there is something wrong with me." I said. "I just don't see...how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad." I said breaking into song.

Up where they walk

Suddenly I saw a dark mass that seemed to be a boat coming above a hole in the celing of my cove. The hole was big enough for me to fit through so I would have no problem fitting through it. "What do you suppose-" I said going though the hole. and started swiming for the surface.
