I came up out of the water and looked in the direction the dark shadow had been going. It was a boat, and there seemed to be some kind of party or something. There were bright lights flying up into the sky and going off making brillently beautiful colors in the night sky. "come on Flounder lets go check it out!" I said in excitement. "Melissa!" Flounder winned. "This isn't a good idea. We...you could be seen." "A risk I'm going to take." I said.
I climed up to the boat as it sat in the middle of the ocean not moving. and looked up onto the deck where the party seemed to be going on. There were people...no HUMANS! They were laughing and dancing, etc. I had never seen them so close up before. They were all wearing swim suits as humans called them.
Then I saw him. The most handsome human of the whole bunch of humans. He had brown hair and gray eyes. He was bare chested and in a swim suit. A breeze blew his hair and could swear I could smell a perfume or something...I think humans called it "Colonge". I took the sent in. It was so sweet. "Wow" I said a slight giggle in my voice.
"Hey Melissa!" I heard a voice say behind me!" I turned to see Skuttel flying towards me. I grabbed him once he was close enought and slapped his beak shut. "Shh!" I hissed. "He'll hear you!" I let go of Skuttels mouth. "Oh I got you I got you!" He said "WERE OUT TO DISCOVER-" I clasped my hands over his beak again. I turned to see if the handsome human had heard. He haden't .
"He's so.....handsome." I sighed in a daydreaming sort of voice. I watched as a animal I belive humans called "dogs" ran up to him and started liking him. Skuttel looked over my shoulder and thought I was talking about the dog. "I don't know...he kind of looks hairy and slobbery to me." He said. I laughed and grabbed him and pointed at the man. "Not the dog....him." I said.Suddenly an older man walked forward and silenced everyone on the boat. "May I have your attention please." The man said. "In houner of master Jordan's 16th birthday I had a special present made for him." The boy, who was the boy I thought was handsome, Jordan laughed. "Come on you shouldn't have." "Oh no I think I should have." The man said. He pulled a cloth off of something big and heavy and revealed a statrue of Jordan. Everyone kind of stared at it. "Well...it's definetly something." Jordan said. "It was meant to be a wedding present as you were to marry but-" the man said. "Please don't start....the perfect girl is out there somewhere.." he said. "I just havent' found her yet." I smiled brightly. He was single. YES! SCORE!
Suddenly I heard thunder in the distance....a storm was coming. "Hurricane coming in!" shouted someone. Thanks for the obvious. Suddenly a flash of lightning went off and the wind started picking up. Not good. It started raining. Then out of now where a bolt of lighting came and nearly hit the ship! Suddenly I knew they were going to be abandoning the ship! Not good! I would be seen. I quickly divined into the water and came back up as another bang of thunder went off and a steak of lightning flashed....everyone was in the boats! Good!
Wait no....not good! I heard barking from the ship! Then a strike of lighting came down and hit the ship catching it on fire! I heard the voice of Jordan then "MAX!" He yelled. So humans named dogs. Go figure! confused Suddenly I saw Jordan dive into the water and towards the buring ship! WAS HE INSANE!? He climed onto the ship and went to get the dog. I saw him throw the dog off and then he didnt' come down off into the water! I started to panic. Suddenly I heard an explotion and the ship blew up! NO! PLEASE LET HIM BE ALL RIGHT WAS MY ONLY THOUGHT!
A big wave pushed the rafts that had the other passengers away. So no one would see me. DAMN IT! What was that idiot thinking. Um I think when a ship is on fire you are supposed to keep away and get the hell away! I dived in the water and looked for the boy named Jordan. I found him he was unconcious. I don't think he would even know I was a mermaid if he was concious. I pulled him out from the water and started towards the shore. It wasn't easy trying to save him. I swam faster when I wasn't pulling anyone. Flounder, Skuttel and to my suprise Sebastion my fathers advisor watched in horror as I tried to save a human knowing I could reveal myself and my people by doing this.
When I reached the shore it was morning. The sun was rising, and Jordan heart was still unconcious. I sat up next to him leaning on his chest and stroked his cheek. This was the closest I had ever been to a human before. The ABSOLUTE closest. "Is he alive?" I asked. Skuttle flew up and put his head to Jordan's foot. "Not getting a pulse." Sebastion hit his head with his claws. "WAIT!" I cried. "He's breathing." I smiled. He was alive. mrgreen "What would I give to stay in the sun all day. What would I pay to spend all day in the sand?" I sang. He was opening his eyes and I forgot that he would see what I really was if I didn't high jack it out of there. He seemed to see a little bit of my face. Suddenly I jerked my head up. I heard another mans voice coming forward. I had to get out of here.
I dived into the water and swam to a rock and got behind it. Etiher way the man and Jordan couldnt' see me. I watched as the old man helped Jordan to his feet and watch him search for the source of the women's voice: ME. Then I watched as the old man told him he was hulusinating and carry him away from the beach. I couldn't help it. I felt like something good was getting ready to happen. Like I was going to meet my prince in person somday, somehow, someway very soon. "We're going to go home and forget this whole thing every happend" Subastion said. "If you won't tell anyone about this. Then I won't tell anyone about this....Melissa? MELISSA! Are you listening Melissa!?" "I don't know when. I don't how." I sang. "But I can tell something is starting right now. Watch and you'll see...someday I'll be...part of....your...WORLD!" I sang. As Jordan vanished from sight.
