Ariel/Basil's Revealings
Just a original journal of mine, nothing particularlly special.
Prologue of a new project (to help with my writer's block)
I have no idea so far of what the plot of this story is gonna be or anything, however, I've had a bad case of writer's block since August while trying to write The Soul Dwellers Trilogy: The Vanished (the sequel to my first book in the trilogy), and one of my roommates suggested multi-tasking on it as well as a new project to see if it'll boast up my writing pace to finish the second book, and maybe this one can become a story as well. I'm a bad writer, especially since it's been since August since I've actually successfully wrote something and gotten away with it. So here's a piece of my new project with no name so far..

Prologue

A spiral of warmth consumed the rainforest trees, the canopies moist with the remains of dew dripping off the leaves’ edges; the rest soaked its moisture into the plant-life before the heat would overtake the green. The trees stirred with the mist that began to dissolve into the thin air, the screeches of animals lurking about on the ground and amongst the trees, echoed throughout the jungle atmosphere. It seemed rather silent in the jungle day, for it was twilight, the uprising of the moon that awakened from its slumber as the sun fell to its sleep. It didn’t remain as quiet as though it would seem for long, as the calls of the wild increased vociferously.
Below the sheet of countless stars, a bristling crackle echoed from the ground. The fallen leaves and twigs were crouched down, paws hastily making way upon the ground. Running upon light paws through the rusted path before it, the majestic beast with stripes running up from its feet and the tip of its tail, devouring its entire body, a tiger aimed for a shadow before it. Out of what happened to be the clearing beneath the canopy, four other tigers dashed for the lone cat. Growling beneath their tigers, the five tigers reached out with their arms out in the air, reaching for each other as they leapt out, colliding as their claws dug deeply into the thick fur. Roaring cries of bloodlust echoed throughout the jungle floors, birds and monkeys managed to vanish from sight while remaining in the trees, in trembling fear of being knocked down if a tiger collided into the tree.
The lone tiger and a larger tiger that doubled its size, stared with darted eyes into each others after managing to crouch down towards the ground. The menacing creature crooked his smile, revealing razor-sharp fangs that pointed to his tongue. He then spoken with a tone of soft honey and rough bark combined darkly, “If it isn’t a surprise to find you here. Surely you know that this territory belongs to that of Kho’kala, you should have known that by now.”
“This territory you speak of belongs to that of all the tiger’s people. Without this territory, you’d know we’d have no where to go.”
Chuckling sheepishly under his breath, the wicked tiger replied, “Precisely my point. Perhaps we’re gonna have to get through this the more difficult approach, shall we?”
Blood dripped from their fangs as they called out outrage from their lungs, they sprung out forward, bearing their teeth, tearing through the fur, blood spilled across the rainforest floors. As they battled, more tigers began to approach, all crying out in the rage of war. The red glint of air took over the silver mist; all the felines were breathing in were their own lives and blood of those they’ve murdered. Their roars curled into the air, more animals began to clear from the area, while struggling not to peer over their shoulders in fear. They were careful to leave the blood baths behind, as the tigers below upon the blood-soaked soil, launched out in attack. A luminous phenomenon of light appeared amongst the skies, dancing about in what happened to be the stars and the moon. Fluorescent rays arched through the skies until they disappeared, leaving behind a gliding cloud that appeared with the shades of vermillion and black.
The underbrush of the concealing rainforest was scented of death, and since the raging war, tigers separated from their society, which was once known to them, as the territory of Surtha, had eternally disappeared from their reach by law that enforced them to separate forever. No longer would tigers live together as social-class creatures, for they were to go off alone. The only thing that remained socially was the mating seasons and the families between a mother and her cubs. Relatives and friends became forbidden for many moons and moons to last.
Forests across the realm of which tigers and other creatures dwelled, remained to the rule, and eventually for thousands of moons, Surtha eventually became long forgotten.
