pardon my melodramatic opening. haha. here's the problem though: i was watching wife swap and normally when there's a non-conformist gothic or punk family, the family turns out to be really cool and fun and happy and just full of love (you know, good ol normal fam who doesn't conform to what society wants to SEE but is still good)
however, today there was an episode with a "punk" family that was vulger and angry and just wrong! like, they had a child with an UNHEALTHY obsession with death. don't get me wrong, i'm obsessed with death, but the way that this NINE-YEAR-OLD liked it was no where near the same way i liked it. i see death as a lovely escape and sometimes noble or coward or... well, i see death for what it is, yet this child saw it all columbine status! that's not healthy.
anyways, so they all claimed to be anarchists. what's anarchy again? oh yeah, anti-government. meaning you can go around saying "i don't believe that people should be governed by a group of retards who don't know what the ******** they're doing" however, it's not necessarily synonimous with chaos, which is what these people were preaching! don't speak for all anarchists out there that you have to be rude and obnoxious and full of rage and anger towards anyone and anything new in the world. hello, if you're gonna talk about being a non-conformist, don't talk to someone who lives a life UNLIKE yours as if they are wrong simply because they're different. they aren't conforming to your lifestyle, and they're prolly just doing whatever makes them happy and makes them feel good. don't hate someone just cuz they're "mainstream" cuz then you're the complete opposite of what you've been saying about accepting people for who they are.
ok, now that i got that outta me, allow me to continue with my next rant on the subject. they also claimed to be punks. as far as i can see, punk rock has had two recurring themes: ******** the government (false hope- the unseen) and can't keep a girlfriend (most songs, but uh, let's go with lonely boy)
don't get me wrong. there's stuff about hating the "normal" plastic carbon copies of people (pretty vacant- sex pistols, since i should have some old-school in the mix) but honestly, what has punk become these days? nothing. kinda sadening cuz people in the world like me now have no lifestyle to lean towards... well, i guess that's why it's called being a nonconformist. it was only a matter of time until punk started to suck, right? you can't be popular and last long if you intend to not become "mainstream". but like i said, nothin wrong with mainstream. do what makes you happy. just don't fake anything.
