a response: you know who you are.
when we think about the word belonging, it doesn't take most of us to realize that we can't exactly pinpoint where that one place we belong truly is. some of us wish to believe that we belong with our families (those odd few, that is). some wish to believe we belong with our friends. others like to believe they belong in school or certain activities with specific people just like them, blah blah blah *cough* cults *cough*
but that's the thing. because we are all human, and therefore all different, there is really no place that each one of us can claim we actually belong. sometimes that knocks us down to realize, to know that we don't fit in and that we don't have someone who can understand us.
but that is what being a person actually is. it means that we can't understand ourselves, hence neither can anyone else. but we aren't here to be understood; we are here to learn to understand, and so far, i've done a pretty good job learning.
here's the deal: life sucks. it sucks hairy red monkey balls. it sucks so bad we're all here choking on it, suffocating beneath the pressures of society, being dragged down further by conformity, and being bound by the shame and ridicule of our fellow peoples, because we can't bare the thought of not being one of "them." and not fitting in.
the only key to live through it is to not care. if someone gives you s**t, don't take it. you're worth more than someone else trying to make you feel down. you have better, more important things to worry about than what he/she has to say about you. if someone gives you s**t, you grab it and shove it down their throats. you let them know how you feel, because even if it's not our purpose, we all still long understanding, and therefore express our feelings once in a blue moon.
as far as i'm concerned, nothing is more important than how you feel about yourself. if someone tells me that god doesn't love me, you know what i say? any god that refuses to love one of his children simply because he doesn't like who they are, then he's just another being i'm going to have to disappoint. the only thing worse than disappointing a "god" or an entire civilization is disappointing myself.
try to keep that in mind.
